Field Day and Gym Day are CCS traditions that our students look forward to every year.
These celebrations take place during the last few days of the school year. They are planned by Coach Carl Sallade and his committee of faculty members, and are made possible with the help of our wonderful parent volunteers.
Gym Day/Field Day
Grades PK2 through Kindergarten
In past years, PK2 through Kindergarten students participated in Gym Day. Due to COVID-19 protocols, Gym Day was moved outside for 2021 and the students experienced all the same races and activities out on our Christ Church field. Activities include a bounce house obstacle course, team races, and individual activities and events.
Field Day
Grades First through Fifth
Activities include an inflated water slide and team and individual events, such as a sack race, three-leg race, and an obstacle course. All elementary classes spend the morning on the Christ Church Field participating in each of the activities, which conclude with a class-wide tug-of-war competition. After lunch, students meet back out on the field for the Color Run!
Color Run
Grades Kindergarten through Fifth
Beginning in 2018, Christ Church School began a new tradition. In the afternoon of Gym Day & Field Day, preprimary and elementary students participate in a Color Run! Students from CCS can walk/jog/run a course designed by their peers. As they are going through the course, students armed with powdered paint bottles squirt the runners as they pass by. It's quite a colorful way to get some exercise during the final days of school!
